Around 160,000 purely electric vehicles are currently registered in Austria. As with combustion engines, all cars require third-party liability insurance and possibly also comprehensive cover. However, if you don't compare premiums carefully, you can save a lot. Potential savings of up to 66 percent or over 2000 euros are possible.

Three percent of all cars in Austria are already purely electric. And the trend is still rising. This is also noticeable on the rate comparison portal Durchblicker, where the number of e-car insurance policies taken out tripled in the previous year.

Insurance companies are also aware of the increasing importance of "electric cars" and are vying for the (new) target group with offers. The competition is in turn good for consumers, who can look forward to attractive rates. However, as with policies for combustion engines, the differences in premiums are enormous, as Durchblicker calculated for the "Krone".
