"Krone" interview
Christina Stürmer: “Priorities are shifting”
Christina Stürmer's "MTV Unplugged" album, which she recorded last summer with star guests in Vienna's Volkstheater, will be released on Friday. The 41-year-old is going on tour with it, recently founded her own record company and is now also a mother of two. In an interview with "Krone", she reveals why it's still so easy to juggle all of this and what the plans are for a new studio album.
"Krone": Christina, last August you played twice at the Volkstheater in Vienna for the "MTV Unplugged" project. The album is being released these days and you're going on tour with it in April. How did this actually come about?
Christina Stürmer: The first conversation with MTV Germany took place at the beginning of 2021. I was heavily pregnant with my second daughter Lotta and we talked about possible guests. The list was forever long and there were crazy names. (laughs) They also told me at the time that no woman had ever done an "Unplugged" in German-speaking countries and that surprised me. For me, that was the definitive "now more than ever" story. In 2022, we really got going and even though there were already a lot of songs from 20 years ago, selecting and arranging them within a year was intense. We rented a house near Mariazell. Tobias Kuhn, the musical director, director Ingo Pertramer and my partner/guitarist Oliver. We went for a lot of walks, had a lot of barbecues and listened to even more music. This resulted in the list of songs we wanted to use for the project. It was clear that songs like "Millionen Lichter" and "Ich lebe" had to be included, but we then picked out a few little gems.
