6 out of 10 doctors leave
Bleak outlook for ENT stat
When six out of ten doctors in an ENT department resign, alarm bells start ringing: especially when it comes to one of only four of these busy wards in Lower Austria. Inevitably, speculation about a closure arises. The excitement over the closure of the gynecology department in Waidhofen an der Ybbs is still too deep-seated.
As a patient, you actually want to spend as little time as possible in a hospital. At the hospital in question, however, this also seems to apply increasingly to the medical staff: After six out of ten specialists in the ENT ward, including, according to reports, many senior physicians and also the primaria, have already handed in their notice, an industry expert speculates to the "Krone" newspaper regarding talks about a possible closure of the ward. He also names a date: In June, it should be "all about everything". That is exactly the day on which the notice periods end, it is said.
