30 years ago, Gert Steinbäcker released "Steiermark", a song that quickly became the unofficial anthem of the Green Mark. In an interview with "Krone", the STS third remembers the song's creation on this anniversary. 

"Krone": When and why did you actually start recording music as a solo artist?
 GertSteinbäcker: I can't really say for sure anymore. But my colleagues in STS were obviously a bit lazier than me - in the best sense, because they were always doing other things as well. And I just kept on writing music, and at some point I had so much that I made my first album. But it wasn't until Günter quit STS 11 years ago that I started touring on my own - and luckily that worked out very well.
