Golfing after the cyclone
“Anyone who steps on the grass has to pay 2,000 dollars”
Golfers Emma Spitz and Sarah Schober felt the full force of Cyclone Alfred in Australia. In the state of Queensland, the tropical storm brought 900 liters of rain per square meter. There were also strong gusts of wind. Popular sandy beaches were destroyed. Now the big clean-up begins. Emma and Sarah will be playing the Ladies European Tour tournament in Coffs Harbour from Friday under special conditions.
The cyclone also had a political note: according to the usual naming rules, the tropical storm should actually have been called Anthony. However, as parliamentary elections are due to be held in Australia and the social democrat Anthony Albanese has to fear for his re-election, the cyclone was ultimately not given the first name of the Prime Minister. Instead, Alfred was chosen.
