Who will foot the bill for the upcoming bank levy

While red and black are wrestling over an austerity budget, Robert Holzmann, Governor of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), is speaking out: there are certainly economic arguments in favor of a bank levy. From today's perspective, it is likely that this will happen. It is also clear who will pay it.

Holzmann, known for his clear words, emphasizes that "budget restructuring should be achieved as best as possible through expenditure". But he adds: "If it ends up pinching a little, you have to look in other directions." And this direction could lead directly to the banks.
