Flashed: This country is teeming with speed traps!
When you see them, it's usually in the rear-view mirror - and by then it's already too late. Around 1500 stationary speed cameras "shoot down" traffic offenders in this country. In our Austria-wide overview, we show which districts are teeming with speed traps and where particular caution is required.

In 2023 alone, over six million speeding offenses were reported to the traffic police or punished as an administrative penalty.
Some of this was due to civilian patrols or section monitoring such as Section Control. Around 580,000 speeding drivers were caught by officers using a laser measuring device. However, around five out of six speeding offenders were flashed by radar devices.
