Stumbling into speed traps is never fun. Yes, speed limits should be adhered to because they (usually) make you safer and ignoring them can be expensive. Nevertheless, it's bitter when you forget about the speedometer and known speed cameras "in your head" - or when previously "empty" speed cameras suddenly start taking pictures after all. We explain why sensible speed enforcement is not just about the element of surprise and where this will soon be history.

There are traditional "hotspot districts" such as Mödling, where a large number of stationary devices are used to ensure compliance with the speed limit. In other, often more rural areas, more flexible priority controls are being used.
