Expensive surprises
These “secret” speed cameras will soon be history
Stumbling into speed traps is never fun. Yes, speed limits should be adhered to because they (usually) make you safer and ignoring them can be expensive. Nevertheless, it's bitter when you forget about the speedometer and known speed cameras "in your head" - or when previously "empty" speed cameras suddenly start taking pictures after all. We explain why sensible speed enforcement is not just about the element of surprise and where this will soon be history.
The speed enforcement network in Austria is sometimes tighter, sometimes looser. There are traditional "hotspot districts" such as Mödling, where a large number of stationary devices are used to ensure compliance with the speed limit. In other, often more rural areas, more flexible priority controls are being used.
