FC Red Bull Salzburg have signed Yorbe Vertessen, a center forward with great potential. The Belgian, who comes from Tienen, a town with a population of 35,000, is set to heat up the competition in the Bulls' offense. The "Krone" reveals what makes the new kid on the block tick, why he didn't become a goalkeeper and who is present at almost every home game.
From goalkeeper to striker
Vertessen tried out a lot as a young player, including in terms of position. "I tried to find out what I wanted to do. I tried it as a goalkeeper, but also as a striker. At some point, I had to make a decision," he explained in an interview. The decision fell on scoring goals instead of preventing goals. "My parents pushed me a bit to become a striker," he grins.
