Following the announcement by the FPÖ and ÖVP that they want to abolish educational leave, many people are unsettled. Will it no longer be possible to apply or will those who are currently continuing their education have to return to work immediately? We asked what applies now.

Educational leave enables employees to engage in lifelong learning: until now, it was possible to take a break from everyday working life for job-related training and further education, for which the Public Employment Service Austria (AMS) paid a training allowance under certain conditions. However, anyone planning to take educational leave in the near future will have been paying attention since the announcement by the potential new government.
