Municipal politicians are popular more quickly

The tension is now rising in many municipalities: 1.3 million Lower Austrians are entitled to vote in the municipal elections on Sunday, 26 January.(Bild: Gabriele Moser)

In 568 Lower Austrian municipalities, the municipal council will be newly elected in exactly 14 days. Political scientist Peter Filzmaier writes for the "Krone" newspaper about the parties running, the mayoral office and (blue-yellow) election motives.

In two weeks' time, 568 local council elections will take place in Lower Austria. Each of them is special, but they have one thing in common: compared to the chaotic formation of government at federal level in January, the political world is still halfway in order at municipal level - exceptions confirm the rule. This is another reason why these elections are important.
