After the final end of the coalition negotiations and the resignation of Karl Nehammer, there are realistically only two options left for Austria: blue-black without Karl Nehammer - or new elections. Both options that the Federal President wanted to avoid with all his might ... So what will he choose?

Karl Nehammer's government mandate has failed. This not only seals the fate of ÖVP leader and Federal Chancellor Nehammer, but also rules out the possibility of a coalition without the FPÖ. Van der Bellen is now - from his point of view - spoiled for choice.
