When cell phone damage destroys family photos
The smartphone has replaced the compact camera, and today we mostly capture our memories on our cell phones. Even the really big moments, such as your child's first steps or the first Christmas. But anyone who entrusts their precious photos exclusively to their cell phone memory is taking a risk. This is what "Krone" reader Silvia had to realize.
Her one-year-old offspring was sitting at the dining table when disaster struck. The boy spilled a cup of water and the liquid poured over the table, where the cell phone was also lying. "I actually had him under observation, but you can't look that quickly," recalls the young mother. "The liquid ran under or probably into my cell phone. Then the phone turned black, became ultra-hot and started to smell burnt." To this day, the device still won't start, and it smells burnt when connected to the charger. The photos that Silvia had taken since the boy was born are apparently lost forever - or are they?
