During the last interview I conducted with him shortly before his death, Hannes Androsch was beaming. The reason for his joy, however, was not Austria's political situation, the country's future prospects or the state of education policy - all three points stunned him and he kept coming back to them - but a scholarly work of history from the English-speaking world that he had had sent to him.
