Unique Imst tariff solution for locals

A complaint by the Association for Consumer Information (VKI) has brought the "local tariffs" in the ski resorts back into discussion just in time for the winter season. While the Tyrolean network tickets rely on personal collection, the Imster Bergbahnen created a very special solution so as not to come into conflict with EU law. 

Tourism experts are often surprised at the "negative attitude towards tourism" of the local population, but a woman from Nassereith on the congested B179 Fernpass road puts it in a nutshell: "We have to put up with the traffic jams all the time. The only advantage we locals have, the reduced lift fares, is now being taken away from us too."
