“A billion euros in social welfare doesn’t scare me”
"Let the head of the AMS finally deal with the problems", Vienna City Councillor Peter Hacker said in part 1 of the big "Krone" interview on social welfare - and he goes into more detail in part 2. The SPÖ politician doesn't mince his words, not only about the billions in costs or the pull effect for refugees, but also about the knife ban in Vienna.
"Krone": Councillor, does the high minimum income attract refugees to Vienna? Is there a pull effect?
No, not from Syria. Does it have an effect within Austria? Of course, we have a migration movement. It has an effect, like so many things. It's attractive to live in a city with millions of inhabitants. All the immigration around the world takes place exclusively in big cities.
