National Council election: Hardly any Styrians at the top of the federal list
The FPÖ is the last parliamentary party to finalize its federal list for the National Council elections - without any Styrian representatives in the top 20. There are also hardly any white-green representatives in the top positions of the other parties. However, there are two major exceptions.
While many small parties are still struggling to get enough declarations of support to be able to run in the National Council elections on September 29, the five parties represented in parliament have now finalized their lists. The FPÖ was the last to do so on Wednesday. Curiously, the Freedom Party, which is clearly leading in the polls, does not have a single Styrian representative in the top 20 on its federal list.
Although most MPs are elected to the National Council via the constituencies or the state list, some (remaining) mandataries are usually elected via the federal list. And their composition has symbolic power. How is Styria represented in the other parties?
