Alarm – but 100 soldiers have nothing to report!

The conditions? Inhumane. Little space, excrement on the floor. The almost 100 soldiers stationed at a fortress near Paris don't even get a smile, let alone a bad word. 

The visit to Mont Valérien, at 162 meters high one of the highest hills around Paris, proves difficult. Drizzling rain. Lots of wall, little entrance. A jogger stops briefly, talks about guided groups, an elderly gentleman wants to know the exact route. But then two military posts with machine guns shake their heads from a distance.
