10,000 members already share electricity

The big players are increasingly facing competition from the small ones: energy communities that share the "juice" from their PV systems to save money are booming. According to Netz OÖ, there are already 10,071 participants in Upper Austria alone. But why is there so much "hype" surrounding these alternative energy suppliers?

Energy communities are currently shooting through the roof even more than electricity prices at times of inflation. Since January, the number of participants in the associations, which generally share electricity from PV systems, has more than doubled. Netz OÖ currently has 10,071 participants in its supply area - see chart below.
