Why the Saudi League is losing its allure
The top Saudi clubs Al Hilal, Al Riyadh and Al Ahli are currently in Austria. Ahead of Monday's desert duel in Wr. Neustadt between Neymar's club Al Hilal and Al Arabi (Kat) with Marco Verratti, the "Krone" sheds light on developments in the Sheikh League. After last year's transfer madness, there is a lull this year. Many stars have already turned their backs on the Saudi Pro League.
A whiff of the Saudi Pro League is currently blowing through Austria. With Al Ahli (Freistadt), Al Riyadh (Geinberg) and champions Al Hilal (Bad Erlach), three top clubs from the "SPL" are here on training camps. Incidentally, the latter will face Al Arabi (Qatar) and Marco Verratti in a desert duel tomorrow in Wr. This naturally raises the question of what the current state of soccer "madness" is in the Middle East.
