“Homeless people are at the mercy of the heat”
Summer has picked up speed, but the heat has its downsides. How do homeless people fare on so-called dog days? The "Tiroler Krone" got answers from the association for the homeless in Innsbruck.
The thermometer in the provincial capital scratched the 30-degree mark on Friday. According to the weather forecast, it should be 29 on Saturday. The forecast for Sunday is another 27 degrees. Those who can, escape to the outdoor pool or seek refuge from the heat in their own four walls and switch on the fan or air conditioning. One group of people for whom this is not possible are those who are homeless.
How do they fare during a heatwave and what options do they have to cool down? The "Tiroler Krone" received answers to these questions from the street work team of the Association for the Homeless in Innsbruck.
