Italy, here we come - and in triumph!" The title in the "Krone" on May 31, 1990, one day after the 3:2 victory against the Netherlands in the last test before the World Cup in Italy. Today's "Oranje" team manager Ronald Koeman was a player at the time. Since then, he has known how to lose against Austria.

Back to 1990: Robert Pecl had given Austria the lead after three minutes, and immediately after the restart Manfred Zsak (46) and Toni Pfeffer (49) scored a double to make it 3-0 - both had not been in the starting eleven, but had come on before the break to replace the injured Peter Artner and Michael Streiter.
