26 Femicides: How the judiciary is now called upon to act

Hardly two weeks go by without a woman being violently killed by a man in Austria. The "Krone" asked lawyer Sascha Flatz about the legal situation regarding femicides in Austria and where there are still gaps in the legislation.

As of November 2023, there have been 26 femicides in Austria this year, with 41 other cases remaining attempts. However, the Criminal Code does not differentiate between victims according to gender - whether male or female, the threat of punishment remains the same.
