Federal states fuel unemployment in Vienna

Vienna's AMS boss Winfried Göschl is calling for a nationally coordinated approach to migration in order to stabilize the labour market in Vienna. He is convinced that the federal capital now has to bear the brunt of the failures of the federal states.

The unemployment rate in Vienna remains worryingly high, and even more so in comparison to the figures for Austria as a whole (see interactive graphic below). Foreigners in particular are far more at risk of losing their jobs in the federal capital. For Göschl, however, Vienna can do relatively little about this on its own. "There is only one big city in Austria," the head of the AMS told "Krone".
