No mercy when looking for a job: When is a criminal record expunged?

Those who want to get back on the right track often have a hard time - because many companies require job applicants to have a criminal record. And you don't necessarily have a clean record if you've never done anything wrong - only if it doesn't (or no longer) appear in public. 

Mr. E. is 39 and has two previous convictions, thanks to which he had already spent six months behind bars. But when the Klagenfurt hospital was looking for an employee with his qualifications, he applied - naturally, he left out his troubled past. And presented a false criminal record.
