End for Vienna hospital
Doctors warn: Böhler surgery shortage will escalate in July
According to AUVA, the closure of the Böhler Hospital in Vienna will not result in a shortage of operating theaters. Wrong, say doctors, and it gets even worse: according to them, a debacle is looming by summer at the latest.
According to the AUVA, everything is fine with the redirection of operations from the closed Böhler Hospital: there are 379 open operations, of which around 250 will be processed in Meidling from April 15 and around 130 in the Confraternität private clinic from April 19. 150 patients already have new appointments, "in the next few days" new appointments will be arranged by telephone with the remaining patients. The backlog will be cleared by the end of May. However, the Böhler Hospital does not understand what these figures are supposed to be.
