War is looming in South America: regardless of national borders, international agreements and international warnings, Venezuela is planning to annex large parts of its small but resource-rich neighbor Guyana. Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro has a plan. The newly created federal state of Essequibo covers around 160,000 square kilometers, the provisional capital is called Tumeremo, the state governor is General Rodríguez Cabello, the neo-state borders the Atlantic Ocean to the north and Brazil to the south. The only problem? Essequibo is located in neighboring Guyana and is therefore not part of Venezuela's territory.
