“I’ll never forget my time in Austria”

Vladimir Janocko will also be present live at the clash between Slovakia and Austria in Bratislava on Saturday: The soccer legend is still a household name to many fans in this country, having won a total of four championship titles with Austria Vienna and Salzburg. The 47-year-old spoke to the "Krone" about his time in Austria, his youth academy in Kosice and the international duel.

Vladimir Janocko played his only duel with Austria in 2004 in a 1-1 draw in Bratislava - at a time when the Slovakian had long been a star in Austria too: the playmaker won two league titles and three cup victories with Austria Wien between 2001 and 2006, then followed this up with two more league titles with Salzburg (2007, 2009). "Austria remained more anchored in my heart, but my time in Salzburg was also important for my career. Where I held my own among 25 top players from many countries and had my regular place. I will never forget my time in Austria."
