“900 euros so mom can do her job”

Children need external childcare when their parents are at work. But for many, this is hardly affordable.(Bild: Markus Wenzel)

A woman from Eastern Styria has called on families on social media to share their childcare costs. They pay hundreds of euros a month for it - and have to be happy about it: "Every day, a woman quits her job because she can't find childcare," says the Chamber of Labor. Compared to other federal states, Styria is often hit hard.

One day nursery with lunch, one kindergarten with lunch and materials, one school with afternoon care: a family from Eastern Styria paid 903.40 euros for their childcare in January. Not easy to shoulder, especially in times of inflation.
