The domestic retail giant Spar was able to extend its market leadership in food retail in 2023. Boss Hans K. Reisch explains how the company now wants to grow even further, why it is looking for 2,000 employees and why a number of items are finally becoming cheaper again in a major "Krone" interview.

Across all business segments and including its foreign subsidiaries, the Austrian Spar Group, which employs over 90,000 people, achieved sales of more than 20 billion euros for the first time last year. Domestically, the figure was just under ten billion, and Spar increased sales in the food retail sector by a whopping 9.2 percent. In an interview with "Krone", CEO Hans K. Reisch from the founding family sets the course for the future.
