The case of an 81-year-old woman who is reportedly going to court to get maintenance from her son is making waves. Curious: politicians are unhappy with this regulation for receiving social welfare, but no change is in sight. Meanwhile, another case of such an intra-family lawsuit has emerged.

"Of course, it is always stressful for people when they have to claim maintenance from a relative. But we have to abide by the legal rules," says Helmut Mitter, Director of Social Affairs, Youth and Family in Linz. A recent case shows that these rules are not always socially responsible.
