New medical scholarship: the state puts its foot down
A year ago, Land and Kages started advertising a new medical student scholarship to combat the shortage of doctors. How many have opted for the associated service in Kages hospitals? The results are sobering! And: an advertising poster for the AK election that was created with AI.
To finally get to grips with the shortage of doctors in Styria and to keep doctors in the Styrian healthcare system after their expensive training, the province of Styria, Kages and the Medical University of Graz launched an experiment in March 2023: they joined forces to pump ten million euros into a newly conceived study program. The deal: students would receive financial support of between 950 and 2200 euros, depending on their progress. In return, the prospective doctors undertake to work in the Kages hospitals for a maximum of 72 months. Politicians and hospital bosses patted each other on the back.
