Has the government forgotten about one million people?
The SPÖ is criticizing the black-green housing package and is calling for help for all those house builders who have already paid for expensive loans. 500,000 house builders throughout Austria are currently suffering from overly expensive variable-rate loans that have already been taken out. Around one million people are affected. The "Krone" knows how the SPÖ wants to solve the problem.
As part of the black-green construction stimulus program, low-cost state loans are to be used - as in the past - to make it easier for people to refinance their property. They are to be given the opportunity to obtain up to 200,000 euros in the form of low-interest state loans. As reported, the interest rate is to be a maximum of 1.5 percent and therefore a fraction of the interest rates currently payable on the market. Comparable interest rates for property loans currently range between three and five percent.
