Two months have passed since the Haas Formula 1 racing team parted company with its team boss Günther Steiner. However, the fact that the South Tyrolean had to pack his bags has also opened up new perspectives for him, he now explained to "Bild".

The end at Haas was even a "relief" for Steiner. "I wasn't even shocked when Gene (Haas, owner of Haas; editor's note) told me. An end like that often leads to you taking a step forward and opening up new perspectives. My perspective on Formula 1 has now changed because I'm not just looking at one team," said the 58-year-old.

The Italian now works as a pundit for RTL, the Cologne-based private broadcaster will be broadcasting seven races on free-to-air TV in 2024. Even if he can now enjoy his time with his family more, Steiner does not want to completely rule out a return to motorsport, even if only the premier class would be an option. "I know Formula 1 best, otherwise I would have to start all over again."
