A good two weeks ago, three alpinists were rescued in the middle of the night during a spectacular and time-consuming rescue operation on the Grossglockner in East Tyrol. Poor weather conditions and other unexpected problems made the ascent more difficult for the helpers. Now those affected are speaking out.
It didn't turn out as expected - this is how a statement from the three Czechs who had to be rescued by the mountain rescue team on the Grossglockner at around 3,500 meters above sea level in Kals at the beginning of the month begins. The mission took around 15 hours for the 20 mountain rescuers and three alpine police officers. Darkness, icy temperatures, fresh snow and strong gusts of wind made this undertaking extremely difficult.
