Teachers are currently only receiving part of their salary

Some teachers are currently astonished. Since the beginning of 2024, they have not been paid their full monthly salary. According to the Education Directorate for Tyrol, there is "a logical reason" for this, and Education Director Paul Gappmaier explains the details. 

"In February, I only have the basic salary plus the travel allowance on my payslip, additional payments such as main subject or remedial teaching allowances are missing," says one teacher (name known to the editors), "I am missing 400 euros, which means I can pay less alimony." For one colleague, it's even 800 euros.

"I can't pay off my loan at the moment," he reveals. Other people affected have also contacted the "Krone" - the tenor is: "We are missing around 20 percent of our salary. This is really noticeable in everyday life." Why is that? We asked them.
