The administrative authorities use a radar device to hunt down speeders on the Glocknerstraße. A clever German has now discovered that this device should not even be in operation. Now the biker is wondering how many road users were wrongly asked to pay because of the bungling.
It all began with a speed camera fine that Thomas Zimmer from Saarbrücken (Germany) received in June 2023 on the Grossglockner Road in the Carinthian municipality of Heiligenblut. "A few days later, I received a letter from the Spittal an der Drau district authority with a fine of 210 euros," the passionate motorcyclist told the Krone newspaper. The German is said to have exceeded the speed limit of 70 km/h by 35 km/h.
