Why early elections are nothing to fear

Yes, no, maybe. Or maybe not. But it could be. The popular political sport of the year so far has been a guessing game as to whether the next National Council elections will take place at the end of September as planned or before the summer. What do we make of this? It's about more than strategy games about which election date benefits this or that party.

1. prophecies of doom that new elections would be a spectre or otherwise bad are nonsense. General, free, equal and secret elections are at the heart of every democracy. There can be nothing wrong with that. Not even with an earlier election day. It would only be unconstitutional if an election were to be postponed until the day after the election.
