Europol is sounding the alarm: In a notification to European countries, the police authority warns of a dangerous increase in extreme online cults that incite children and young people to violence - from cruelty to animals to (suicide) murder. The emergence of a "multitude of groups that use digital platforms to normalize extreme cruelty, blackmail victims and radicalize individuals to commit violent extremist acts" poses a "serious threat to public security", according to the Hague police authority.
