How the yellow rescue angels were rescued
If a ski racer falls heavily in Kitzbühel, the ÖAMTC CX emergency helicopter team is called out - this happened twice during Friday's Super-G in Kitzbühel (see video above)! The "Krone" met the emergency doctor, flight rescuer and pilot - the trio gave us a deep insight!
Two Frenchmen were united by one thing: Alexis Pinturault and Florian Loriot crashed in the super-G and were seriously injured. Rescuers in distress rushed to the rescue within minutes: the ÖAMTC emergency helicopter CX crew, consisting of an emergency doctor, flight rescuer and pilot.
"We have been an integral part of the Hahnenkamm Race ever since the C4 emergency helicopter has existed - in other words, since December 1985. Since then, the CX has also been available as a specially parked helicopter for the racers on training and race days and is positioned next to the finish line," explains flight rescuer Stefan Pichlsberger. If a racer falls, the procedure is as follows:
