Diabetic Emma has to fight for day nursery

Just when she was feeling comfortable in the local crèche, little Emma was diagnosed with diabetes. The Upper Austrian municipality wants to hire an extra caregiver to be on the safe side, despite the small additional expense, but so far no one has been found. Diabetes - the diagnosis came when Emma was just settling in at the crèche. "And then she wasn't allowed to return," say the parents of the 22-month-old from Schleißheim. The nursery said that Emma could only return to the group if an additional caregiver was hired.
