Around Cardinal Christoph Schönborn's 80th birthday on 22 January, Pope Francis is expected to accept his resignation. There will be a public celebration beforehand on January 18: The faithful will be able to bid farewell during a thanksgiving ceremony at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna.
