The young Tyrolean mountaineer Sarah Mariacher achieved the almost impossible in Nepal in the wake of "chance acquaintance" Laura Dahlmeier. And she already has big plans for the future. Climbing all the four-thousand-metre peaks in the Alps is one of the 33-year-old's life goals.

The East Tyrolean from Virgen has a hereditary background. Her father Erwin Mariacher, mountain guide and retired head of the alpine police in the district of Lienz, enjoys a reputation as an excellent alpinist. No wonder he took his daughter into the East Tyrolean mountains at an early age. Of course, it took many years before the now 33-year-old took off on the mountain.
