You can find them in all kinds of areas - and not least in politics: ladies and gentlemen who have to lie compulsively about almost every topic. What do they get out of it, what's behind it and how can you recognize notorious liars? We have done some research for you!

We all lie at some point. To a certain extent, it is therefore normal. Notorious liars, however, "often don't feel that they are doing anything wrong themselves", says psychotherapist Barbara Haid, "and over time come to see lying as part of their personality." There are various reasons for the constant lies; psychological disorders are often behind them.
