How Austrians with the lowest incomes save
They are often unemployed, single, older, but also young Upper Austrians - the quarter of Upper Austrians who have a maximum net income of 2,000 euros per month. And these people are being hit by inflation more than once. Saving is the order of the day wherever possible. According to experts at Linz University, there's a surprise.
Those who have less have to save - this is the unspectacular finding of a special report by researchers from the Institute for Trade, Sales and Marketing at the University of Linz, who, on the occasion of St. Martin's Day, patron saint of the poor, turned their attention to the quarter of the population that is usually not included in consumer studies: those who don't have so much. But the details of the analysis are exciting.
