Almost four million people in Austria have a job, and just as many are entitled to a salary and the associated proof of income. But what does this piece of paper actually say? An expert helps us decipher the most important abbreviations. Plus: the six most important questions and answers about the payslip.

Number combinations in the LA-Nr column, abbreviations such as LSt-Tg or AV/AE - all logical for payroll accountants, but most employees simply understand the meaning when they look at their payslip. As a result, when almost four million employees in Austria receive their payslip every month, many are only interested in whether the bottom line, i.e. after deductions, is correct.
