Over the past three years, thousands of Austrians have received mail from two Carinthian police officers who felt that they had been exposed on the internet after making brainless Facebook posts. Many users had to pay thousands of euros in compensation. But now the case law seems to be changing.
It is also advisable to use your brain on social media. After all, anyone who thoughtlessly shares, likes or even comments on anything can be held liable in court and asked to pay heavily by potential victims and injured parties. Two Carinthian police officers are proving to be particularly persistent.
