Tons of good honey in the cellar

It's hard to believe, but selling domestic honey is difficult for commercial beekeepers. Hobby and part-time beekeepers and foreign honey are to blame.

Honey is a costly business for beekeepers, and it's not just the bees that are busy. "A kilo of honey costs us around 24 euros by the time it's in the jar," say Reinhard Brix, Marion Schneilinger and Dominik Gasselseder. Together, the three of them have around 600 bee colonies from the Waldviertel to Burgenland.
