A 16-year-old boy raced along the sidewalk in Wels on his e-scooter at 50 km/h and had a serious accident. Unfortunately, this incident is not an isolated case. Why e-scooters are often underestimated and what traffic experts would like to see.

Exactly 25 km/h is the maximum speed allowed for e-scooters in Austria. At around 6.15 p.m. on Monday, a 16-year-old was speeding along a sidewalk in Vogelweiderstraße in Wels at 50 km/h, not wearing a helmet. But the high-speed ride ended badly. The boy crashed into a pillar and had to be taken to hospital.
