30 km/h: municipalities now have a license to slow down

It is clear to traffic experts that a 30 km/h speed limit massively increases safety - but such speed limits are not always popular with the population. Municipalities have recently been able to impose them more easily, and the first mayors are already making use of them. However, they still have to wait for new speed cameras.

Rows of closed houses to the left and right, behind them the Schloßberg with the castle ruins on one side and the Mur on the other: the town center of Wildon in southern Styria is historically distinctive. Its prosperous trading days are long behind it, but a busy thoroughfare still winds its way through.
